Yawanya Straughter joined the Jackson State University Division of Athletics staff in January 2019 as an Administrative Assistant. She received her bachelor’s degree from Jackson State in Communicative Disorders in 2000.
Straughter has been an accomplished Administrative Assistant at Jackson State, playing a pivotal role in managing operations for the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium, home of the Tigers’ football games. With a strong organizational acumen and a commitment to excellence, she ensures the smooth functioning of stadium events and administrative processes.
At Jackson State, Straughter is also responsible for coordinating event logistics, managing schedules, and providing comprehensive administrative support. Her attention to detail and her ability to multi-task effectively contribute to the successful execution of university athletics events, enhancing the overall fan experience for attendees.
In addition to her role at Jackson State, Straughter is a proud member of the National Association of Athletic Ticket Sales and Operations (NAATSO).
