Box Score JACKSON – The Jackson State men's basketball team shot nearly 50 percent from the field and routed Fisk 77-56 Tuesday evening in non-conference action at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.
JSU improves to 2-8 overall, while Fisk fell to 2-9.
Senior
Jontrell Walker came off the bench and dropped a game-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. The Aurora, Illinois product also hit three trey ball to go with six rebounds and an assist.
Freshman and Brandon, Mississippi native
Jayveous McKinnis scored 15 points and hauled in 12 boards to post the double-double.
Junior guard
Venjie Wallis added 13 points, while senior
Chris Howell scored 12 points and hauled in 12 rebounds to record the double-double.
The Tigers converted 32-of-65 (49.2 percent) of their shots from the field, while holding Fisk to 30 percent.
JSU returns to action Saturday at Murray State. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
