Box Score JACKSON – The Jackson State men's basketball team used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Miles College 61-57 Saturday evening in its final game of 2018.
The Tigers improved to 3-10 overall.
Senior
Jontrell Walker dropped a game-high 17 points and handed out three assists. The Aurora, Illinois native also went a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line.
Freshman
Jayveous McKinnis scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.
Senior
Chris Howell proved to be dynamic and added nine points and hauled in a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Tigers forced the Golden Bears into 13 turnovers, which JSU turned into 11 points. JSU also won the battle in the paint and outrebounded Miles 44-38, including 13-6 on the offensive boards.
As a team JSU shot 34 percent (20-of-58) from the field.
JSU returns to the hardwood and open SWAC play January 5 at Alabama A&M.
