Alabama State Narrowly Defeats Jackson State

Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama State edged Jackson State 59-57 Monday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference.
 
Senior Jontrell Walker scored a team-high 11 points. Freshman Jayveous McKinnis dominated in the paint and came down with a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with five points.
 
Milwaukee native and senior Chris Howell narrowly missed out on the double-double and finished with nine points and nine rebounds. Howell also handed out three assists.
 
Senior and Jackson native William Brown scored nine points and was a perfect 3-of-3 from the three-point line.
 
Sophomore Lemmie Howard added eight points and grabbed three rebounds, while junior Venjie Wallis scored six points.
 
The Tigers return to the hardwood Saturday at 5 p.m. and meet Alcorn State at the Athletics and Assembly Center.
