Ameshya Williams posted 14 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and No. 18 Miami defeated Jackson State 83-68 from the Watsco Center.
The Hurricanes opened a 24-10 first quarter lead and the Lady Tigers were forced to play catch-up the remainder of the game.
JSU outscored UM 22-20 in the third quarter and 23-21 in the fourth quarter.
Dayszha Rogan came off the bench and sparked Blue and White's offense. The Ripley, Mississippi native dropped 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field. Rogan also grabbed two rebounds and a pair of steals.
Marneisha Hamer added eight points and four rebounds, while
Kaisah Lucky and
Keshuna Luckett each scored six points.
Ieisha Lacey and
Cherelle Jones also scored four points apiece.
UM turned the ball over 27 times, which JSU turned into 26 points. The Lady Tigers also displayed its depth and the bench scored 34 points.
The Lady Tigers shot 34.2 percent (25-of-73) from the field, however, found its shooting touch in the fourth quarter and buried 43.75 (7-of-16) of its shots from the floor.
JSU returns to action Wednesday at Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La. The tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
