JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State volleyball team dominated Mississippi Valley State 3-0 on Thursday night for Senior Night.
Prior to the match, Jackson State honored four seniors, Madison Wolf, Taylor Jackson, Latisha Dolford, and Alexandra Burney.
In set one, the Lady Tigers and Devilettes started off in a close and competitive set with JSU leading 7 to 5.Â
The Lady Tigers utilized the momentum off of some kills just moments later as the Lady Tigers pulled away with the score being 18-9.Â
Mississippi Valley quickly found themselves behind near the end of the set, 20-10. Jackson State went on to dominate the first set by a score of 25-14 to take a 1-0 lead.
The second set started off with JSU getting off to hot start, 5-2, yet the Devilettes began to claw back by making the score 8-5.Â
Once again, the Blue and White put some distance between themselves and MVSU as they ultimately went on to win the second set 25-15 and push their lead out to 2-0 in the overall match.
Jackson State cruised in the third and final set, winning 25-11, and sweeping the Devilettes 3-0 in the seniors final match at Jackson State.
Marina Brito led Jackson State with a total of 10 kills and five service aces.Â
Camry Dabney was a force offensively adding nine kills. Alana Washington tallied a team-high 19 digs and Damassy Thompson finished with 20 assists.
Kanile'a Nomura was dominate defensively at the net, collecting four total blocks.
The Tigers wrap up the season with an overall record of 17-18 and 13-5 in SWAC play. JSU awaits their opponent for the SWAC Tournament which will be played at Mississippi Valley State from Nov. 22-24.
