LAFAYETTE, La. – Jackson State softball dropped a pair of games Saturday at the UL-Lafayette Tournament. Austin Peay defeated JSU 12-2 and Stephen F. Austin topped the Lady Tigers 13-2
Game 1 Austin Peay 12, Jackson State 2
The Lady Tigers recorded 12 hits and left seven runners on base.
Madelyn Prukop batted 1-for-2 and
Destyn Jones went 2-for-3 and the duo each recorded an RBI.
Alexis Hansard finished 2-for-3.
Sierra Smith,
Kelsey Smith,
Yasmin Melero and
Brooke Boechler each added a hit.
Kayla Owens started in the circle and tossed four and one-thirds and scattered eight hits, allowed five runs and three walks and fanned two batters.
Game 2 Stephen F. Austin 13, Jackson State 2
Ariana Cruz and Smith each scored on a throwing error in the fourth inning for the Lady Tigers.
Elyssa Sanchez started and absorbed the loss. The junior tossed three innings and scattered three hits, allowed six runs didn't walk a batter.
The Lady Tigers return to the diamond Sunday versus Austin Peay. The game is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
