STARKVILLE, Miss. – No.15-ranked Mississippi State defeated Jackson State 17-4 in a single nine-inning contest.
Jaylyn Williams batted 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while
Raul Hernandez batted 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Tyler Culpepper also added an RBI.
Chandler Dillard picked up a pair of hits and
Wesley Reyes,
Dezmond Chumley, and
Rahman Williams each added a single.
Mario Lopez absorbed the loss. Lopez tossed three innings and allowed six hits and five runs and one walk.
Garth Cahill relieved Lopez and threw two innings and surrendered just one hit.
The Tigers return to the diamond Wednesday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader vs. Stillman College at Braddy Field.
