JACKSON - The Jackson State men's basketball team won their third straight as they topped Arkansas-Pine Bluff 65-52 Monday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference play in the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.

The Tigers improve to 9-13 overall and 6-3 in SWAC play, while the Golden Lions fell to 6-16 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

Jontrell Walker came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points. The Aurora, Illinois native was on fire from beyond the arc, converting three 3-pointers. Of the many trips to the free throw line, Walker was an excellent 10-of-11.

Fellow senior
Dontelius Ross was 3-of-5 from the 3-point line and collected 11 points. Ross ran off with the ball twice and dished out four assists.

Sophomore
Lemmie Howard added 12 points, pulled down four rebounds, had a pair of blocks and two assists and one steal.

Freshman and Brandon native
Jayveous McKinnis was "in competition with Lemmie" as he finished the night with nine rebounds, seven points, sent the ball to the fans six times and handed out one assist.

Chris Howell collected six points and four rebounds.

Venjie Wallis scored five points, grabbed two rebounds and handed out an assist.

As a team, the Tigers converted 20-of-28 attempts from the free throw line.
