PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Jackson State used a balanced offensive attack and an aggressive defense and rolled past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 61-41 Monday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference.
The Lady Tigers improved to 14-13 and 10-6 in the SWAC, while UAPB falls to 5-19 and 2-15 in the conference.
JSU dominated from the opening tip to the final whistle and did not trail once and led by as much as 34 points late in the second half.
Junior
Marneisha Hamer dropped 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the field. The Memphis native also grabbed 11 rebounds to complete the double-double.
Coming off a career-high 36 points in JSU's 87-86 overtime win over Mississippi Valley State,
Christina Ellis scored 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field. The San Diego native also grabbed two rebounds and recorded a pair of steals.
Kaisah Lucky added 11 points and was 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. The junior also hauled in five rebounds and handed out a pair of assists.
JSU controlled the action in front of the basket and outscored UAPB 26-2 in the paint. The Lady Tigers also forced 24 turnovers, which was promptly turned into 25 points.
The Lady Tigers return to action Thursday and host Alabama A&M at 5:30 p.m. The regular-season finale is Saturday at 3 p.m. versus Alabama State.
