JACKSON – Jackson State pounded out 13 hits and cruised past Alabama A&M 11-6 Saturday afternoon in Southwestern Athletic Conference action at Braddy Field.
The Tigers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead.
Jaylyn Williams and
Dezmond Chumley each added an RBI in the bottom of the first and Williams also added a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to open a 3-0 lead.
Rahman Williams then delivered a solo home run in the Tigers part of the third and led 5-1.
J. Williams ended up batting 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored a pair of runs, while R. Williams went 2-for-5 with three RBI and scored a run.
Chumley finished 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Chandler Dillard batted 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run.
Anthony Becerra earned the win and tossed four and two-thirds, allowed six hits, three runs and two walks. Becerra also fanned six batters.
The two teams complete their three-game series Sunday at 3 p.m.
