LORMAN, Miss. – Jackson State snapped Alcorn State's six-game SWAC winning streak Thursday afternoon. The Lady Tigers won game one 3-2 and dropped game two 5-1.
Kayla Owens tossed a complete-game gem to dispatch the Lady Braves in the opener. The sophomore scattered three hits and allowed two runs (both unearned) and one walk and fanned five batters.
JSU scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning. Brooke Boecher started the scoring with an RBI single and
Zoey Keyes scored on a wild pitch.
Ariana Cruz capped the scoring with an RBI bunt single.
Owens helped her own cause in the batter's box and went 1-for-2 and scored a run.
In the game two setback,
Kelsey Smith batted 2-for-3 with an RBI single.
The two team's closeout their series Friday at 1 p.m.
