JSU Bows Out of SWAC Tournament

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Texas Southern defeated Jackson State 6-3 in 11 innings and the Blue and White bowed out of the 2019 SWAC baseball tournament.
 
JSU finishes its season with a 31-24 overall record.
 
Tyler Culpepper put the Tigers on board first with an RBI single through the left side to score Rahman Williams.
 
Texas Southern scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to gain a 2-1 lead. JSU countered in the bottom half of the frame when Raul Hernandez singled through the left side to score Chris Prentiss.
 
Culpepper singled to right field in the sixth inning and JUS led 3-2.
 
TSU tied the game in the eighth inning and won the game in the 11th frame.
 
Anthony Becerra started was credited with the no-decision. The Las Vegas native tossed 7.2 innings and scattered three hits, allowed two runs and struck out 10 batters.
 
Nikelle Galatas entered in relief and tossed 3.1 innings.
 
Hernandez batted 2-for-5 with an RBI and Culpepper finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI.
