Jackson, Miss. - The Jackson State volleyball team faced off against the New Orleans Privateers at home Monday evening at T.B. Ellis. A strong start by the JSU came up just short as the Lady Tigers fell to New Orleans in straight sets 19-25, 15-25, 19-25.
The Lady Tigers had an attack percentage of 48% with 11 kills in the first set, 54% with 8 kills in the second set and 52% with 8 kills in the third set. JSU had four players (Marina Bianchi Brito, Kanile'a Nomura, Jylen Whitten and Camry Dabney) lead with five kills each.
Damassy Thompson and DeKyra Dennis led with seven assists each and Alana Washington led the Lady Tigers with nine digs on the evening.
JSU will travel to Starkville for the Hail State Invitational taking on the Mississippi State Bulldogs at noon on Thursday before playing the UAB Blazers at 5 pm that afternoon. The Lady Tigers close out the weekend in Starkville at 11 am Friday against the North Florida Ospreys.
