JACKSON, Miss. - Jonas James led Jackson State with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting in Saturdays 77-66 loss to Texas Southern in SWAC play.
James was a perfect 2-of-2 from three point range and 3-of-3 from the free throw line on his way to scoring a season high for the Tigers.
Tristan Jarrett finished with 15 points while
Jayveous McKinnis tallied 11 points.
Roland Griffin went got six points and a team best three steals and four assists.
Lemmie Howard led the way defensively with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Jackson State put together 24 points in the paint while Texas Southern had 34 under the rim.
JSU shot 25-of-64 (39.1 percent) from the field and added 31 rebounds.
The Tigers return to action Monday with a SWAC matchup versus Prairie View A&M. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
