JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State men's basketball team hosts Alabama A&M tomorrow evening at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. in SWAC play.
 
Last Time Out
Tristan Jarrett dropped a game-high 31 points to lift Jackson State past Alabama State 70-67 Saturday evening in the Southwestern Athletic Conference opener for both programs.

Jarrett finished with a team-high 10 field goals and 10 free throws along with two steals and six rebounds. The junior notched his two 30 point game of the season and is averaging 20.3 points a game. 
 
Roland Griffin scored 14 points and was 8-of-11 from the free-throw line.
 
Since returning to the lineup, Griffin is averaging 15.2 points a game and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Jayveous McKinnis was a force around the rim, hauling in 10 rebounds while putting up eight points and four blocks. 

Jackson State finished 22-of-57 from the field, 34 rebounds, and 38 points in the paint. 

The Tigers led for 29:17 minutes of the game on their way to improving to 4-10 overall and 1-0 in SWAC play.

Top 10 Opponents
 
Throughout the 2019-20 season, the Tigers have faced off against two top 10 teams: No. 6 Baylor and No. 9 Memphis each back in the month of December. The Tigers were competitive in against both teams but ultimately fell in each contest. 

Last Time Versus Alabama State

Jackson State shot 60 percent from the field in a 66-47 win over Alabama A&M last season ahead of the SWAC Tournament.
 
The win pushed the Tigers to 12-18 overall and 9-9 in the SWAC, while pushing to 5-26 overall and 4-13 in the conference.
 
The Blue and White controlled the match-up from the opening tip to the final whistle and led the entire game.
 
Venjie Wallis scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field. The 6-foot-7 guard also grabbed six rebounds and converted 5-of-6 attempts at the free-throw line.
 
Chris Howell added 16 points, grabbed five boards and went 6-of-9 at the charity stripe.
 
Jayveous McKinnis dropped 11 points and hauled in three rebounds.
 
Lemmie Howard scored nine points on 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc.
 
JSU won the game with a dominating effort in front of the basket. The Tigers out-rebounded the Bulldogs 31-23 and scored 30 points in the paint.

Scouting Alabama A&M
 
Alabama State enters Mondays contest with a current record of 3-9 overall and 0-1 in SWAC play after falling 70-60 on Saturday to Grambling to begin conference play.
 
AAMU is averaging 66.6 points per game as a team while allowing 81.6 ppg to opponents.

The Bullogs have two shooters averaging more than 10 points per game with Cameron Alford leading the way with 14.8 points a game in 29.9 minutes of play. Alford also owns team-highs in steal with 12 and rebounds with 5.4 per contest.

Garrett Hicks is second on the team with 10.2 ppg. 

Other notable key players for the bulldogs include TJ Parham with 8.3 ppg and Cameron Tucker with 6.5 ppg, 3.1 rebounds a game, and a team high 33 assists.

The Bulldogs are coached by head coach Dylan Howard as he enters his second season as the head coach for AAMU.
