JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State men's basketball team signed a key addition to the 2021 class with the signature of Jackson native, Joseph Dupree. 

The Murrah High School product was named to the Clarion Ledger All-State fourth team for the 2019-20 season. He led Murrah to the 6A championship game against Starkville while averaging 17 points and four rebounds per game. He was named to the Clarion Ledger 2021 Dandy Dozen list.

"It's something I've always wanted - a DI scholarship," Dupree told the Clarion Ledger in a recent interview. "It feels good to see all the grinding and hard work I've put in is paying off."

Jackson State was Dupree's first offer in his sophomore year as Coach Wayne Brent is excited about the signature of Dupree. 

"Joseph is an outstanding young man and a fantastic basketball player. He's a kid that I have known since he was in the second grade as he has played on a few teams with my son. I have watched him develop his game throughout the years into becoming an all around perimeter guy and a fantastic three-point shooter."
