Lady Tigers Come Up Just Short At Louisiana Tech

JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State Lady Tigers came up just short Tuesday night with a 73-66 loss to Louisiana Tech in non-conference play.

The Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech came out in the first quarter and put up a total of 16 points to take a 16-9 lead over Jackson State at the end of the first ten minutes. 

Jackson State, led by Dayzsha Rogan and Ameshya Williams, put together a good second quarter as the Lady Tigers outscored LaTech 13-10 to cut the Lady Techsters lead to 26-22 at halftime. 

In the third quarter of play, Jackson State took its first lead of game with a 35-33 lead before LaTech eventually regained the lead late in the third quarter.

Midway through the fourth quarter, both squads were locked into a 53-52 ball game with LaTech holding the slight edge, with six minutes left in the game.

The Lady Tigers pulled within three-points with just 13-seconds left in the game, 69-66 before La Tech was able to go on a 4-0 run to ultimately defeat JSU 73-66.

Dayzsha Rogan finished with 22 points scored in the game. It was the third straight game that she has led the Lady Tigers in scoring. She led the team with four steals and had four assists.

Ameshya Williams tallied 22 points, six rebounds, and team best four blocked shots. Keshuna Luckett finished the game with 11-points scored. 

As a team, Jackson State shot 24-for-50 from the field for 48.0 percent. The Lady Tigers outscored LaTech in the paint 32-22 and outrebounded the Lady Techsters 22-20 in defensive rebounds. 

The Lady Tigers fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss. They return to the court this Friday for a road game at Nicholls State.
