Box Score PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - Jackson State fell to the top ranked SWAC team, Prairie View, on the road Monday night by a final score of 70-61 on ESPNU.
It was the second game in one week that the Tigers were broadcasted to a national audience, as they went 1-1 in those matchups.
Top ranked Prairie View jumped out to a quick 37-19 lead in the first half before the Tigers put together an impressive 13-0 run and hold the Panther in the final three minutes of the first half to pull within a 37-32 deficit at the half.
In the second half, Jackson State brought the score within one point, 37-36 until the Panthers went on a 9-0 run to retake a ten point lead, 46-36.
PVAMU went on to hold the lead, defeating Jackson State by a final of 70-61.
JSU fell to 10-16 overall and 7-6 in SWAC play. PVAMU improved to a 14-11 and 10-2 in conference play.
Jonas James had 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field, including 5-of-8 from the free throw line.
Roland Griffin tallied nine points and
Venjie Wallis with 11 points.
Jayveous McKinnis completed the double-double as he collected 11 rebounds, two steals, and one blocked shot to go along with 14 points.
The Tigers shot 19-of-52 from the field and collected 30 points in the paint.
