Box Score PINE BLUFF, Ark. - Jackson State completed the 11-point come from behind victory Monday evening, defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff by a final of 49-45.
The win marks the third-straight conference victory for the Tigers, pushing their SWAC record to 5-4 as they pull to above .500 for the season.
Junior
Tristan Jarrett led Jackson State with 15 points on 5-of-18 shooting from the floor including two steals.
Defensively,
Jayveous McKinnis was a force with five blocks and bringing in a team-high 13 rebounds. The Brandon High School product also added seven points.
Venjie Wallis' clutch free throw shooting down the stretch gave Jackson State its first lead of the night at 41-39 before knocking down two more with eight seconds left to give JSU a 47-43 lead to ultimately put the score out of reach in the end.
Wallis finished with a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line, capping his night with nine points.
JSU finished with 30 rebounds and 24 points in the paint.
Jackson State returns to the court on Saturday (Feb. 8) for a home matchup with in-state rival Alcorn State beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
