JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff tomorrow evening as JSU will honor it's seniors on Senior Day in  Venjie Wallis, Roland Griffin, Khalil Spencer, Dontelius Ross, Hunter Shelton, and Thomas "Snacks" Lee. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Jackson State ranks 7th overall in the SWAC with 67.3 points per game while giving up only 69.3 points per game on defense to rank fourth in the conference.

JSU guard, Tristan Jarrett, ranks first in the
SWAC with an average of 17.5 points per game. Roland Griffin ranks third with 15.7 points scored per game and third in rebounding at 6.6 rebounds a game.

Jarrett ranks in the top 10 in the conference in steals (No. 7, 40 steals), field goal percentage (No. 7, 38.6 percent), and 3-point field goals made per game (No. 8, 1.6 per game).

Sophomore Jayveous McKinnis leads the SWAC in rebounds per game, bringing in 9.4 boards each contest while ranking first with 55 blocks.

Jonas James ranks No. 7 in the conference in total assists with 82 (2.9 APG).

Venjie Wallis pulls in at No. 5 overall on the steals list in the conference with 32 total steals.


Scouting UAPB
 
UAPB enters Monday nights matchup with an overall record of 4-24 and 3-13 in conference play. The Golden Lions have two players score in double figures, led by Marcus
Wallace, who had 14 points. Terrance Banyard tacked on 12 points, and Dequan Morrie added five points, eight rebounds, and four steals in the loss.

UAPB averages 52.9 points per game while giving up 70.1 points a game to opponents. 

Markedric Bell leads the team with 10 points per game along with 18 steals. Bell is averaging 4.8 rebounds per game.

Marquell Carter remains just shy of double-digit points per game with 9.7 ppg. Carter leads the Golden Lions with 5.8 rebounds a contest.

UAPB is coached by George Ivory who is in his 12th season as the head coach of the program.


Last Time vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (February 3, 2020)
 
PINE BLUFF, Ark. - Jackson State completed the 11-point come from behind victory Monday evening, defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff by a final of 49-45.

The win marks the third-straight conference victory for the Tigers, pushing their SWAC record to 5-4 as they pull to above .500 for the season. 

Junior Tristan Jarrett led Jackson State with 15 points on 5-of-18 shooting from the floor including two steals.

Defensively, Jayveous McKinnis was a force with five blocks and bringing in a team-high 13 rebounds. The Brandon High School product also added seven points.

Venjie Wallis' clutch free throw shooting down the stretch gave Jackson State its first lead of the night at 41-39 before knocking down two more with eight seconds left to give JSU a 47-43 lead to ultimately put the score out of reach in the end.

Wallis finished with a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line, capping his night with nine points.

JSU finished with 30 rebounds and 24 points in the paint.
