JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State was defeated in Sunday morning's consolation match of the Ole Miss Classic by a final score of 8-0 to Missouri State.
The Lady Tigers collected two hits with
Brianna Simms Johnson and
Alexis Arredondo each tallying one hit a piece.Â
Destyn Jones got the start for JSU, going 4.0 innings, giving up seven hits, six runs, all of which were earned, while striking out three opposing hitters. Jones was given the loss as she falls to 1-4 on the season.Â
Missouri State scored two three runs in the first inning before opening the gates with another two run second inning to take a 5-0 lead.Â
The Bears once again posted a one in the fourth before walking off with a two run single to hand the Tigers an 8-0 defeat.Â
The Bears collected nine hits as a unit, as JSU fell to 6-12 overall.Â
The Blue and White return to the diamond next Saturday with a doubleheader matchup with Prairie View A&M and Southern beginning at 5 & 7 p.m. in New Orleans, La.Â
