Lady Tigers Split Midweek Doubleheader with Bryant

  • JACKSON, Miss. - The Tigers split Monday's home opening doubleheader with a 3-2 win in game one before falling 9-2 in game two to Bryant University. 
  • Leah Hopson was the winning pitcher for Jackson State in game one as she surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out two.
  • Kylie Kenney took the loss for Bryant University. She went two and a third innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out four and walking zero.
  • Sierra Smith went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Jackson State Tigers in hits. Jackson State was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Alexis Arredondo made the most plays with four.
  • Tiffany Bell led Bryant University with two hits in four at bats in game two of action, Bryant took control early, jumping out to a 4-1 lead before extending in to 7-1 and then 9-1 in the seventh.
  • Jackson State scored one more run in the seventh but ultimately fell by a final score of 9-2 to split the day.
  • The Lady Tigers improved to 7-16 overall after the split. They will play host to Rust College tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. before playing again at 1 p.m.
