RIVERSIDE, Calif - The Jackson State men's basketball team plays its third straight home game this Tuesday night, facing California Baptist at 9:00 p.m. CST inside the CBU Events Center. It is the third of 13 non-conference away games for the Tigers.
JSU (0-2) nearly spoiled the home opener for LA Tech, but fell short 70-68 this past Friday at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Jayveous McKinnis recorded his second consecutive double-double and led the Tigers in scoring with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and also added 3 blocks. The forward is averaging a team-high 15.5 points and 11.0 rebounds.
Ken Evans Jr. had a tremendous outing for the Tigers. He finished with 19 points while shooting 4-7 from the three point line.
Chance Moore registered 13 points and was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.
CBU (2-0) competes in the Western Athletic Conference. The Lancers have played two games this season, defeating San Francisco State, 87-65, and Mississippi Valley 95-66.
Chance Hunter had a team-high 18 points in their season opener against San Francisco State. A quad of Lancers - Tre Armstrong, Daniel Atkin, Taran Armstrong, Ty Rowell, Reed Nottage - combined for 64 of their 95 points.
JSU and California Baptist will meet for the 2nd time on the hardwood. The Lancers won the last meeting in 2019, 93-70.
Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. CST at the CBU Events Center and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
