McKinnis Collects Double-Double in Loss To No. 11 Illinois

McKinnis led the Tigers with 11 points and 12 rebounds

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, Ill - Jayveous McKinnis collected a double-double as he scored 11 points and collected 12 rebounds. He also recorded five steals and two blocks, but it was not enough as the Tigers were defeated by No. 11 Illinois, 71-47, at State Farm Arena on the campus of Illinois University Tuesday evening.

Three players scored in double-figures for the Tigers led by Coltie Young's 12 points and Jonas James III rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points.

Illinois opened the contest on a 12-0 run. The Tigers were able to get on the board first with a layup from Dyllan Taylor. Following Taylor's layup, Illinois went on an 9-0 run taking a 21-2 lead.

JSU was able to cut the deficit to 11, 28-17. Following a layup from James III late in the first half, Illinois scored a layup before time expired to take a 30-17 lead into halftime.

Coming out of halftime, McKinnis got the Tigers on board first with a seven-foot jumper and only trailed by 11, which would be the closest they would get in the second half. Illinois slowly stretched the lead to 26 in the second half before coming away with a 71-47 victory.
