JACKSON, MISS - After an 11-game non-conference road slate, the Jackson State men's basketball team will return home for their first home game of the season as they host Alcorn State to begin conference play.

JSU (2-9) dropped an extremely tough contest in overtime to Drake the last time they were in action, 70-65.

Jayveous McKinnis was phenomenal for the Tigers as he was just shy of a triple double recording 19 points, 10 rebounds, and nine blocks while going 8-of-11 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from the charity stripe.  He notched his seventh double-double on the season and 30th of his career.

Two active Tigers – Gabe Watson (15.0) and Jayveous McKinnis (11.8) – are averaging double-digit points while Chance Moore is right behind at 7.7 points per game.  The team is currently averaging 57.1 points per game. McKinnis is averaging 10.3 rebounds per game ranking 13th in the NCAA and he also currently ranks 11th in the NCAA in double-doubles with seven.

Alcorn State (1-11) has found the win column only once this season, defeating Milwaukee by a score of 61-57.  Three of their losses have been by single digits, including a 72-48 loss to Oklahoma in their last contest.

The Braves are averaging 58.2 points per game. They get to the free throw line a lot, averaging 21.5 attempts at the charity stripe per contest.

Dominic "DJ" Brewton is the anchor of the team, averaging 9.0 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field.  He has three games this season where he scored in double figures, including a season-high 19 points against Baylor.  He also averages 4.3 rebounds per contest.

JSU leads the all-time series against Alcorn State, 9-4.  The Tigers have won the last four meetings in the series including a 74-66 victory last season.

Wednesday will be the first home game of the season for the Tigers. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. CST and will be streamed live on the JSU Tiger Sports Network.
