Box Score VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Jackson State softball team earned their first wins of the season and defeated Tennessee State 1-0 and Tuskegee 8-5 Friday evening.
In the win over TSU,
Macie Kippenbender didn't allow a single run and just four hits. Kippenbender also struck out six batters.
In the second inning, JSU got their offense started when
Zoey Keyes doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Keyes went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead JSU.
The Lady Tigers also did not commit an error.
Game two provided some more offense and JSU prevailed 8-5 over TU.
Kayla Owens delivered in the bottom of the first inning with a three-run home.
The Lady Tigers added three more runs in its half of the fourth inning.
Owens was also dominant in the circle and scattered nine hits and allowed two earned runs and fanned a pair of batters.
JSU returns to the diamond Saturday and meets up with Spring Hill College and Miles College at 1:30 and 4:30.
