JSU Prevails Over UAPB in Overtime Thriller

JACKSON, Miss. – Jackson State outscored Arkansas-Pine Bluff 8-2 in the overtime period and the Tigers prevailed 64-58 Monday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.

After UAPB scored the first bucket of the overtime period, Isaiah Williams' jumper at 3:29 started an 8-0 run which Tristan Jarrett capped with a pair of free throws in the waning moments of overtime.

Jarrett showed why he's a candidate for SWAC Player of the Year. The senior dropped 32 points and was a perfect 14-for-14 at the free-throw line. Jarrett also grabbed 13 rebounds to secure his third double-double of the season. It's also his second 30-point effort this season.

Jonas James added 11 points and grabbed six boards, while Williams scored nine and hauled in 10 rebounds.

JSU won the game on second-chance points and free throws. The Tigers outscored the Lions in second-chance opportunities 13-0. The Blue and White converted 24 free throws, while UAPB finished 11-for-21 at the charity stripe.
