JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State finished the season undefeated in SWAC play with a 79-54 win over over Alabama State on Saturday to claim the regular season SWAC Championship.
Jackson State led for nearly 36 minutes of action in the contest, jumping out to a first half lead of 43-26 at the break.
In the second half, Jackson State led by it's largest lead of the night by 25-points with just under three minutes left in the contest.
Jackson State went on to defeat Alabama State by a convincing 79-54 win in the regular season finale.
Tristan Jarrett led the Tigers with 22 points on the night.
Jonas James added 17 points and six rebounds while
Cainan McClelland had 12 points and five steals on the night. Another senior,
Darrian Wilson, tallied 11 points and drained 3-of-4 from three point range.
With the win, JSU improved to 11-5 overall on the season and a perfect 11-0 in SWAC play. The Tigers will head to Birmingham, Ala. where competition will begin on Wednesday.
