JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State Lady Tigers softball fell in the opening game of a three game series with Alabama State on Saturday evening by a final score of 4-0.
Alabama State got off to an early lead in the second inning, using a sacrifice fly to take the quick 1-0 lead. ASU went on to score three more unanswered runs to ultimately take the win over the Lady Tigers.
Jackson State collected four total hits in the contest with
Samiah Huckabee pacing the way with two total hits in the outing.
Alexis Arredondo and
Isabel Gusman each collected a hit for t=JSU.
Kayla Owens took the loss for Jackson State. Owens lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out five and walking one.
Jackson State falls to 9-14 overall and 5-3 in SWAC play. Both teams return to the field tomorrow for a Sunday afternoon double-header beginning at 12 p.m.
