JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State's
Kayla Owens was named to the 2021 All-SWAC Tournmament team, following her performances on the field this past weekend in Gulfport, Miss.
The senior finished with three hits on the week, with one run driven in at the plate. In the circle, she went 13.0 complete innings while striking out nine batters, including a six strike out performance, while only allowing one run on three hits in a 2-1 win over PVAMU.
For the season, Owens was named Second Team All-SWAC as both Pitcher and Designated Player. Owens appeared in all 40 games for the Lady Tigers as a two way player. In the circle, Owens has put together a 8-10 overall record in 21 appearances and 10 complete games. She pitched a total of 104.2 innings pitched with 73 strikeouts and 66 earned runs allowed all season long. She is also hit .244 at the plate with 24 hits, nine doubles, a team high four home runs, and 24 runs batted in.
