Natchitoches, LA— Volleyball fell to Northwestern State this evening with a final score of 3-1. The Demons improve to 5-7 with the win, while Jackson State will head into competition this weekend looking to secure the program's first win of the year. Jackson State won the third set of the match with a score of 25-22 in dominant fashion, holding a lead for the entire set. Although Tigers tied the Demons in total kills in the match with 43, eight more errors on the Tiger column gave Northwestern State an ultimate advantage in the end.
Alexis Williams came out of the other side of the match leading both teams in kills with 18 kills on 50 attempts, and recorded 17 digs for a double-double. Williams also recorded a block solo and two block assists. Damassy Thompson also recorded a double-double, helping the offense with 31 assists and defensively recording 10 digs.
The Tigers head to the Hail State Invitational hosted by Mississippi State this weekend for a three-game tournament this weekend. They are scheduled to open up against South Alabama and Syracuse on Sat., Sep 18, and will play Mississippi State on the SEC Network + on Sunday afternoon before returning home to begin their SWAC season next Friday.
