JACKSON, MISS - Jackson State looks to get into the win column when they play host to Prairie View on Saturday night at 5:30 p.m. CT inside the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.
JSU recently completed the Alabama road swing this past weekend dropping their last contest to Alabama A&M, 60-58.
Jayveous McKinnis paced the Tigers as he was just shy of another double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds. The freshman duo
Malachi Wideman and
Coltie Young were huge off the bench for the Tigers. Young finished with 15 points recording three triples followed by Wideman who added 13 points with two triples.
Prairie View (1-11, 0-3 SWAC) snapped a eleven-game losing streak when they picked up a 75-58 victory over UAPB. It was the Panthers first true road win of the season. They ended up splitting their road weekend after falling at Mississippi Valley, 84-82.
They have had ten different players start at least three games this season and the Panthers are led by Jawaun Daniels who has started seven games this season. The forward is averaging 13.5 points per game followed by D'Rell Roberts who is averaging 11.5 points per game and Will Douglas who averages 10.0 points per game.
JSU and Prairie View will meet for the 27th time with the Panthers having a narrow lead in the series, 13-10. However, the Panthers have won the last five matchups, including a 70-61 win in 2020.
Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on the JSU Tiger Sports Network.
