JACKSON, MISS - Jackson State goes for a weekend conference sweep on Monday when they face Texas Southern at 5:00 p.m. CT inside the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.

JSU (3-12, 1-3 SWAC) had a strong defensive showing on Saturday, defeating Prairie View by a final score of 64-52 to secure their first conference victory.

Terence Lewis II scored a team-high 16 points versus the Panthers.  The forward has been solid for the Tigers improving his numbers every contest.

Dyllan Taylor who came off the bench scored a season-high 16 points (10 in the second half alone). Two other Tigers posted double figures in scoring as well. Freshman Malachi Wideman who received his first start recorded 12 points and Chance Moore registered 12 points off the bench, respectively.

Texas Southern (5-9, 3-2 SWAC) has won three of its five conference games so far this season with wins over Grambling State, UAPB, and Mississipppi Valley. They fell to Southern 63-50 and dropped a narrow contest this past Saturday to Alcorn State, 73-72.

TXSO averages 39.1 rebounds per game, which ranks first in the SWAC. They also average 12 offensive rebounds per game. Texas Southern get to the free throw line a lot as well, averaging 18.8 attempts per contest.

Texas Southern has a three-headed monster offensively in John Walker III, PJ Henry and Joirdon Karl Nichoals. Each are averaging between 10-11 points per game, having scored 45 percent of the team's points this season.

JSU trials the all-time series to TXSO, 14-5. TXSO won the last meeting in the semifinal round of the SWAC Tournament last season, 84-81.
