MONTGOMERY, ALA - Jackson State wraps up the first week of SWAC play on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against Alabama State inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
JSU opened conference play losing a tough one to Alcorn State by a score of 65-50.
Jonas James III went for a season-high 15 points while
Jayveous McKinnis poured in 14 points, grabbing 8 eight rebounds, and also recording four blocks.
Gabe Watson also finished in double figures with 14 points.
Watson (14.9) and McKinnis (12.0) are the two active Tigers averaging double-digit points per game.
Alabama State split their last two contest with a win over Mississippi Valley, 84-75, and a lost to UAPB, 70-68.
Gerald Lidell leads the Hornets averaging 11.7 per game followed by Trace Young who is averaging 9.6 points per game.
JSU leads the all-time series, 36-29, which dates back all the way to 1994. The Tigers won the last meeting 79-54 last season.
Saturday will have an early tip-off at 4:30 p.m. CT and the game will be streamed live on the Hornet Sports Network on YouTube.
