JACKSON, Miss| The Jackson State University volleyball team dropped its mid-week matchup with Louisiana Tech Wednesday evening at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center. The Tigers fell in three sets, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-22.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Jackson State (3-12, 2-1 SWAC) got on the board first with a kill from Nevaeh Bray to open the match
-Louisiana Tech (9-10, 2-2 C-USA) took off to a 9-5 lead shortly after
-JSU closed in, trailing by one 16-15, as Karys Dove registered an ace
-The Techsters pressed forward taking set one, 25-20
-La Tech opened the second set with an 11-4 lead over JSU
-The Tigers slowly battled back putting themselves within one point of the Techsters, 22-21
-Louisiana Tech held on to its tough defense scoring the last three points to close out the second set, 25-21
-Both teams ran a close race in the third set tying the score at 14
-Jackson State took the lead, 15-14 after an offensive error from LA Tech
-The score was tied again at 22, but JSU couldn't hold on as the Techsters walked away with the victory and sealing set three, 25-22
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Jackson State finished with 38 kills, 114 total attacks and a .158 hitting percentage
-Alexis Williams, Jordan Jones and Olivia Flanagan each recorded nine kills for the Tigers
-Karys Dove notched 34 assists in the match
-Trinity Bryant registered 17 digs for JSU
UP NEXT
The Tigers will return to conference play Sunday as they compete in the SWAC Eastern Division Cluster in Montgomery, Ala. JSU will face Southern University at 11 a.m. and Texas Southern at 3 p.m.
