Coming off a bye week, Jackson State looks to pick up where it left off after a September run of four consecutive wins including a pair of conference victories.
Jackson State's 4-0 start is the best for the program since 1996 (5-0 start) and is the sixth time the program has started 4-0 or better in the last 60 years (1962: 5-0; 1978: 6-0; 1979: 6-0; 1983: 7-0; 1996: 5-0). JSU has outscored opponents 190-37, including a 118-7 advantage in the second half.

JSU has scored in 15 of 16 quarters and has allowed points in only 6 of 16 quarters.  The Tigers have gained 400+ yards in every game, including back-to-back 600-yard games. The defense has allowed only three touchdowns in four games, and has not allowed a team to gain more than 250 yards in a game this season.

JSU ranks in the FCS Top 10 defensively in eight categories: 1st in total defense (185.0 ypg), scoring defense (9.2 ppg), and third down conversions (19.3%), 2nd in passing defense (104.8), t-2nd in defensive touchdowns scored (two), third in fewest first downs allowed (45), sixth in rushing defense (80.8 ypg), and t-6th in total sacks (16).

Offensively, JSU ranks in the FCS Top 10 in five categories: second in both scoring offense (47.5 ppg), and completion percentage (74.6%), third in passing offense (364.8 ypg), and fourth in total offense (533.8 ypg).

Heisman Trophy and Walter Payton Award candidate QB Shedeur Sanders ranks second in the FCS completions per game (30.3), and completion percentage (74.7), third in total offense (360.8 ypg), fourth in passing touchdowns (14), sixth in points responsible for (96), and seventh in passing yards (1,394).

The Hornets are coming off a 16-13 road win at Texas Southern. Alabama State opened the season with wins over Howard and Miles before losses at UCLA and vs. Prairie View A&M.  QB Dematrius Davis has passed for 475 yards and three touchdowns.

Jacory Merritt is the top rusher for ASU (60-249-1), while Isaiah Scott (10-193-1), La'Vontae Shenault (12-189-1), and Jeremiah Hixon (11-101-1) lead the receiving corp. Colton Adams (41 tackles, 3.5 TFL), and Irshaad Davis (31 tackles, 1.0 sacks, 3.0 TFL) are the leading tacklers.  Alabama State alum and former NFL linebacker Eddie Robinson Jr. is in his first year as head coach.
