TUSCALOOSA, Ala.| The Jackson State women's soccer team closed out an incredible 2022 season in the first round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament at Alabama Friday evening. The Tigers fell to the Crimson Tide 9-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Alabama opened the match by taking a shot 4:28 into the game as Riley Tanner took her chance
-Jackson State's Kendyl Terrell worked her way downfield and took a shot that was out right
-Riley Mattingly Parker score Alabama's first goal at the 14:59 mark
-At 15:55 Alabama extended its lead, 2-0, as Ashlynn Serepca put one in
-Kat Rogers of the Crimson Tide pushed the lead to 3-0 scoring at 23:08
-Maya-Joy Thompson shot at the 48:24 mark in the second half as McKinley Crone was forced to make a play in the goal
-Alabama scored again five minutes into the second half and again at the 52:12 mark for a 5-0 lead
-The Crimson Tide score four more times before sealing the 9-0 victory over Jackson State as the top-ranked team advanced to the next round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Alabama outshot Jackson State 37-6
-Tionna Taylor registered nine saves in the match, while Crone finished with three saves for Alabama
