ANN ARBOR, MI --Trace Young collected a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but the Jackson State men's basketball team fell to the Michigan Wolverines 78-68 on the road Wednesday.
The Tigers (0-4) had three players score in double figures, led by Gabe Watson, who had 19 points and eight rebounds. Young added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Ken Evans helped out with 12 points, five assists and three steals.
Jackson State pulled down 44 rebounds in Wednesday's game compared to Michigan's 38, led by Young's 10 boards. The Tigers also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 15 rebounds into nine second chance points.
How It Happened
Jackson State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 37-27 heading into halftime.
Michigan kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 72-55 advantage before Jackson State went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Evans' layup, to shrink the deficit to 72-63 with 27 seconds to go in the contest. Michigan responded and outscored the Tigers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 78-68. Jackson State made the most of 10 offensive rebounds to tack on nine second chance points out of 41 total in the period.
