PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas| The Jackson State University women's soccer team outlasted Texas Southern in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament semifinals to advance to the championship game.
Alexes Sanchez entered the game for Jackson State and scored her first goal of the season at the 42:28 mark in the first half. Kalia Uehara increased the Tigers' lead, scoring another goal at 66:35 in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Texas Southern opened the match going downfield as Victoria Pucci shot at the 6:59 mark and JSU's Tionna Taylor recorded the save
-Kendyl Terrell took a chance on the goal shooting just over the cent at 14:17; Jaidyn Christophe registered the save
-Terrell shot again at 20:19, but Christophe got in front of it again
-Ayanna Pinder took a shot on goal at the 28:34 mark in an effort to advance JSU; Christophe came up with another save for TSU
-Alexes Sanchez shot back-to-back before scoring her first goal of the season for Jackson State at the 42:28 mark as the Tigers took a 1-0 lead into the half
-Jackson State opened the half with four shots all off target
-Kalia Uehara scored another goal for JSU at the 66:35 mark extending the lead, 2-0
-Annalise Brunson shot for JSU at 79:33 as Christophe registered another save for Texas Southern
-Jackson State's Chante Blackwood shot once more before the Tigers sealed the 2-0 victory to advance to the championship game
