AKRON, OH --The Jackson State men's basketball team got a 35-point showing from the bench, but fell 85-72 to the Akron Zips on the road Sunday.
The Tigers (1-8) had two players score in double figures, led by Jamarcus Jones, who had 16 points. Keiveon Hunt added 10 points off of the bench and Ken Evans added eight points, six assists and four steals.
Evans pulled down two offensive rebounds to lead the Jackson State offense which grabbed 10 boards and turned them into nine second chance points.
How It Happened
Jackson State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 54-26 heading into halftime.
Jackson State narrowed its deficit to 64-45 before going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Chase Adams' jumper, to shrink the deficit to 64-54 with 11:23 to go in the contest. Akron responded and outscored the Tigers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 85-72. Jackson State took care of business in the paint, recording 26 of its 46 points in the lane.
