Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Jackson State University Tigers baseball team picked up its first win of the 2022 season here on Sunday, defeating Prairie View A&M 11-6 at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
 
The Tigers improved to 1-2 with their win, while Prairie View A&M fell to 1-2.
 
The visiting Panthers held a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning before JSU added two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-4 lead that it would never relinquish.  The Tigers added three runs in the bottom of the seventh and another three in the bottom of the eighth to cement their victory.
 
Senior pitcher Davila picked up the win for the Tigers after striking out eight batters in four innings of play.  He allowed two runs (one earned) and three hits while on the mound.  Behind the plate, senior catcher Marshal Luis went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.  He also scored one run.
