The Jackson State University Tigers fell to Prairie View A&M 6-3 on Sunday, in the final contest of the JSU Baseball Tournament at Braddy Field.
JSU's loss dropped the Tigers to 4-5 on the season, as the PVAMU Panthers saw their record increase to 2-4.
After two scoreless innings, Prairie View A&M's bats got hot in the third and fourth innings, scoring two of their six runs in the top of third, with the remaining four runs coming the very next inning. JSU's runs came in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and eighth innings.
Amazingly, the visiting Panthers secured the win despite committing seven errors in the contest. JSU committed two errors of its own.
Matthew Krall (1-1) got the win for the Panthers after pitching the first eight complete innings, allowing three hits and three runs (none earned) while striking out seven JSU batters
The loss went to JSU's
Jesse Cavers (0-1), who pitched five innings and allowed five hits and six runs (5 earned) while striking out six PVAMU batters.
The Tigers will return to action on Wednesday, when they host Nicholls State in a non-conference contest at 6 p.m. at Braddy Field.
