Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Jackson State University baseball team lost at Bethune-Cookman Friday 9-8 in 11 innings Saturday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
JSU got off to a fast start with three first-inning runs. With one out,
Chevalier Dorris Jr. walked and scored on a triple to left center by
Ty Hill.
Jaelen Williams then doubled to right, scoring Hill. With two out,
Devontae Rhodes tripled to right, scoring Williams for a 3-0 JSU lead.
Leading 3-1 in the sixth, Rhodes' one-out single to center scored Williams, who reached on a fielder's choice, for a 4-1 lead. With the bases loaded, an RBI groundout by
Marshal Luiz scored
El'Rico Riley.
Omar Gomez-Rivera's two-run single to left scored Rhodes and
Colby Guy for a 7-1 lead.
After B-CU tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, Jackson State regained the lead in the seventh. Dorris doubled down the right field line, and scored on Hill's single to left for an 8-7 lead.
However, the Wildcats tied the score in the eighth before scoring the winning run in the 11
th.
Hill, Williams, and Rhodes each had two hits for Jackson State.
The final game of the series is Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
