Jayveous McKinnis has been named a BOXTOROW 1
st-team All-American.
McKinnis (6-7, 225, Sr., Brandon, Miss.) adds to his stellar 2021-22 campaign in which he was named first-team All-SWAC in earning his third consecutive conference Defensive Player of the Year award.
McKinnis led the conference in rebounds (10.3 rpg), blocked shots (2.9 bpg), and field goal percentage (56.6 %) while also ranking 13
th in scoring (12.4 ppg) and 12
th in minutes (31.5 mpg).
McKinnis posted 15 double-doubles, had 16 games with 10+ rebounds, and 17 games with at least two blocked shots. He scored 15 points with a season-high 16 rebounds, and seven blocked shots vs. Grambling on Jan. 29.
On two occasions this season, McKinnis narrowly missed a triple double. He scored 19 points with 10 rebounds and a career-high nine blocked shots at Drake on Dec. 16. At Bethune-Cookman on Jan. 22, McKinnis scored 16 points with nine rebounds and career-high tying nine blocks.
