Baseball Loses Finale At Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Jackson State University baseball team lost the finale of a three-game series at Alabama A&M 15-9 Sunday.

Ty Hill homered and had a season-high four hits to lead Jackson State. Jatavis Melton, Jaelen Williams, Asher Akridge, and Marshal Luiz each had two hits for the Tigers.

Trailing 4-1 after two innings, Hill homered to center field with one out in the third. With two out, El'Rico Riley walked, and advanced to second on an Akridge single to short. Luiz then singled to right field, scoring Riley to cut the JSU deficit to 4-3.

Trailing 11-5 after five innings, JSU rallied with a four-run sixth. Omar Gomez-Rivera and Chevalier Dorris Jr walked to lead off the inning. Melton then singled to left field, scoring Gomez-Rivera. Devontae Rhodes then singled to right field to load the bases. Dorris then scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 11-7. With one out, Williams singled up the middle scoring Melton and Rhodes to bring the Tigers to within 11-9 but could get no closer.

Jackson State returns to action Tuesday hosting Grambling at 6 p.m. at Braddy Field.
