Baseball Loses Opener At FAMU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Jackson State University baseball team lost 3-2 at Florida A&M in game one of the three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series.

Trailing 3-0 in the seventh, JSU rallied. Ty Hill was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. With one out, Jaelen Williams singled to right field, moving Hill to third. Marcus Atterberry's safety squeeze bunt scored Hill with the Tigers' first run and moved Williams to second. Devontae Rhodes' two-out single up the middle scored Williams, but JSU could get no closer.

Williams went 3-for-4 at the plate for Jackson State. Nikelle Galatas went the distance on the mound, scattering seven hits and allowing one earned run, walking two and striking out four.

Game two of the series is Friday at 4 p.m. CT with live stats at gojsutigers.com.
