Softball Loses Two At Southeastern

HAMMOND, La. – The Jackson State University softball team lost both games of a Tuesday doubleheader at Southeastern, falling 5-1 and 9-0 at North Oak Park.

Jackson State (17-17 overall, 8-4 SWAC), which is currently in first place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Eastern Division, travel to face Florida A&M in a conference series Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Game 1: SLU 5, Lady Tigers 1
The Tigers left a pair of runners on base in both the second and third innings, but finally broke through on the scoreboard in the sixth inning.

Lauren Stewart led off the inning with a single down the left field line and advanced to second on a throwing error. Isis Taylor then singled to right and took second on the throw as Stewart moved to third. With one out, Stewart scored on an RBI groundout by Monica Serrano.

Game 2: SLU 9, Lady Tigers 0 (5 inn.)
