JACKSONVILLE, Ala.| The Jackson State University women's volleyball team dropped its opening match at the JSU Invitational to the undefeated host team, Jacksonville State. The Tigers fell 3-0 to the Gamecocks to open the tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Jacksonville State (11-0) opened the match with a 14-8 lead over the Tigers
-Jackson State (1-9) fell in the first set 25-15
-The Tigers got on the board first in the second set with a kill from
Jordan Jones
-The Gamecocks took an 11-4 lead over the Tigers
-Jackson State's
Kennedy Shaw recorded a kill to cut the deficit to half as the Gamecocks held on to a 20-10 lead
-The Tigers never recovered as Jacksonville State took the second set with a 25-10 victory
-Jackson State evened the score out at one with a kill from
Olivia Flanagan after the Gamecocks scored first in set three
-Jackson State took a 2-1 lead after Maddie Stayer got a ball handling error call
-A kill from
Alexis Williams put the Tigers within one point of the Gamecocks, 5-4
-Williams put down another kill to tie the score at six
-Jacksonville State took a five-point lead, 20-15, as the Tigers continued to fight back.
-Jackson State couldn't recover from the damage as Jacksonville State walked away with the 3-0 victory, 25-21
