Birmingham, Ala. - Jackson State University football quarterback Jacobian Morgan was named Southwestern Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week for his performance in the Tigers' 21-6 win over Mississippi Valley State.

Morgan threw for a touchdown and rushed for a touchdown during Jackson State's win over MVSU on Saturday. He tallied 14 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown. He then threw for 141 yards and a touchdown and connected with nine different receivers.

It was the first start of the season for Morgan and his first game with over 100 yards passing and rushing. He has now rushed for four touchdowns this season.

Jackson State will travel to Pine Bluff, Ark., to face the Golden Lions of Arkansas - Pine Bluff on Saturday, Oct. 28, for a game that will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and scheduled for a 2 p.m. slate.
